Welcome to the Burton Bont Festival Group

There is one place you do belong to, and in my case it is Pontrhydyfen

This site has been set up to capture the history and heritage of the village of Pontrhydyfen, Oakwood and Efail Fach. The Burton Bont Festival Group (a not-for-profit community organisation) was set up in 2023 to find out how our residents, stakeholder groups and businesses wished to celebrate important anniversaries which were upcoming in 2025.

Much of the information you will find here has been shared by residents old and new, The Burton and Jenkins Family and gives you a flavour of what a special village we live in.

We hope you enjoy exploring this website.

Keep up to date with all the latest

This website celebrates the rich history and heritage of our village, Pontrhydyfen, and the wider Neath Port Talbot area. We’ve collected over 500 photographs and memorabilia that reflect the lives, stories, and contributions of local people across generations. It’s a space to share our community’s past with a wider audience and preserve it for the future.

Among the collection are rare items connected to Richard Burton, whose roots here add global interest. But the heart of this project is the community itself. By showcasing our heritage online, we aim to promote local events, attract visitors, and connect with those who share an interest in where we come from.
